Mr. Forney's Homepage

I teach instrumental music at Okoboji High School and assist at Okoboji Middle School. I direct the high school concert band, marching band, pep band, and jazz bands. I offer individual instrumental music lessons to interested high school students who are able to fit them into their busy schedules. I also assist with instrumental lessons at the middle school (all middle school percussion lessons and other instruments as needed).

I earned a BFA degree in music education from the University of South Dakota in 1981 and taught instrumental music in grades 5-12 for eight years at Terril before joining the Okoboji Community School District in 1989. I have also done additional graduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa, and the University of South Dakota. My wife Julie is the band director at Okoboji Middle School. We have three sons. In my free time I enjoy reading, boating, skiing, biking, listening to music, and playing drums and percussion in area bands.

IMPORTANT SUMMER MUSIC TRIP INFO:  Food sales payments, trip return forms and the first deposit were due November 2.  Students must meet deadlines if they want to go on the summer trip.  Make checks payable to Okoboji Music Parents and turn in payments immediately.  Contact Mr. Forney if this causes any problems.
